We had a great China Day for Dallin's birthday. He has had a passion for the country, it's people, language, and customs for a few months now. For his birthday he didn't hesitate to tell me what he wanted the theme to be. He wanted the China flag for his cake, and to do a scavenger hunt. Nate and I were happy that this year was going to be just a family party. :) We don't want the neighborhood thinking we're joining the communist party. Dallin definitely has his own mind and it is fun for us to see inside it sometimes.
The cake

Some of the presents and decorations. We had tangerines around the room which symbolize good luck for the Chinese at their new year celebrations. I also had balloons all over with Chinese characters written on them. Dallin loved it!

The scavenger hunt: They went around looking for clues to find fortune cookies, Chinese umbrellas, cards with Chinese characters and the English translation, and red envelopes with money inside. They really had a lot of fun.

I forgot to bring my camera, but we had a great dinner at Pei Wei, a Chinese restaurant of course, where we quickly gave up on chop sticks but loved the food. Even Isaac ate (a little). All this with Grandma and Grandpa here which made it extra fun and special. This one is definitely going down in the memory bank.
